On Wednesday 22nd November, 13 pupils from Larne Grammar School visited the Titanic Creative Studios in Belfast to get some hands-on prosthetics training from professionals working in the film industry.
Titanic Creative are an award-winning agency and training academy for elite makeup artists, hairdressers, and costumiers for TV, Film and Stage. They offer professional training to people seeking to work, or already working in the film industry.
Year 9 pupil Lily Blair said: “It was really interesting! Our instructor showed us the basics then we had the opportunity to apply the make-up on each other. We learned a lot about special effects make-up and about how to properly apply liquid latex and fake blood to create realistic bruising and wounds. We even learned how to do fake burns using tissue and greasepaint. It was a lot of fun!”
Mrs Hall and the Film Club would like to thank Titanic Creative for this amazing experience, even if it meant they got a few odd looks on returning to school!
