During December the History Department hosted a Norman Invasion as part of an Educational Outreach Visit at Larne Grammar School.
The activities focused on the Norman Conquest, a topic which Year 8 pupils have been covering in class. The activities were designed to be informative and to enrich the pupils’ learning of the subject. It was an interactive programme and one which the pupils thoroughly enjoyed.
Pupils were given the opportunity to sample some of the clothing and weapons used during the Battle of Hastings in 1066 – a chance that most of the boys were keen to get involved in.
Miss Weir, Head of History, said: "It is always fantastic when we can host an event like this. The opportunity to handle equipment similar to what was used almost 1000 years ago really helps the topic come alive for the pupils."
