Current and former pupils honoured at MEA Sports Awards

A group of current and former pupils have been recognised for their sporting achievements at the annual Mid and East Antrim Sports Awards.

Among the list of winners were the Larne Grammar School Junior Boys 4x100m relay team of Caelan Campbell, Mark Johnston, Owen Johnston and Matthew Hill. The boys were awarded the School Sporting Performance award for winning gold in both the Ulster and Ireland Championships during the 2017 season.

Among the other award winners at the gala evening was former pupil Jonathan Rea. Jonathan, who is currently chasing a fourth successive World Suberbike Championship, was inducted into the MEA Sporting Hall of Fame.

Head of Physical Education, Mr Lowe, said: "It is fantastic for these boys to receive this kind of recognition. What they achieved last year was simply incredible and was the result of dedication and hard work. They thoroughly deserve this award."
