Mayor opens Digital Futures event

At the end of November Sentinus, a company who promote STEM subjects to young people, were in school once again to deliver an app development workshop to Year 10 pupils. The MEA Mayor was also on hand to give her support to the event.

The event gave pupils the opportunity to learn how to develop basic apps on the Android mobile operating system. The pupils split up into pairs and each pair got a laptop computer on which they used app development software to make their apps. Each pair made a variety of apps that were then uploaded to an Android tablet to play with and test.

Year 10 pupil Jack Mckenna said:  "The event was based on teaching young people how to make and design an app so that the skills could be applied in later life. It was very interesting and fun. I think I speak for all the pupils who took part by saying a big thank you to Sentinus and the Mayor for our very enjoyable day."
