Valuable business insight gained through ‘Tenner Challenge’

Larne Grammar School pupils have been putting their business skills to the test in the Young Enterprise ‘Tenner Challenge’. The programme provides each participant with £10 at the start of the scheme, which the pupils then grow over the course of a week to maximise the return on their tenner.

Year 9 pupils Joel Hunter, David Taylor, Andrew Kale, Jack Sweeney and Luke Farquhar were crowned the winners out of twenty-three groups who entered the Tenner Challenge. Their group, Choc Stop, managed to make a profit of over £360 in just six days.

In total the groups raised £2182 for the school and all groups were treated to a celebratory lunch to mark their outstanding achievement.

Mrs Agass, Leader of the school’s Independent Learning group, said: “The Tenner Challenge is a great way for pupils to combine their creative and entrepreneurial skills. It teaches them valuable life lessons about the world of work and also creates an exciting buzz around the school. Let’s not forget that it is also a social enterprise and all proceeds go to the school to benefit all pupils.”
