Coronavirus Update – Thursday 19th March (pm)

Confirmation has now been received that GCSE and ‘A’ Level examinations will not take place in NI this May/June.

Information is starting to emerge on how qualifications will be awarded in the absence of external examinations. The Minister of Education has stated that “the plan is to use a combination of prior achievements, internal teacher-assessed tracking information, predicted grades and modelling of existing data trends”. Schools have been informed that more details about these arrangements will be provided when the examination professionals have concluded their work. Until we receive this information, we will not be in a position to provide any detail on how the system will work in practice.

Normal classes will operate for all pupils on Friday 20th, at which point we will commence our period of closure.

Further information will be published on the school website in due course.
