The Education Minister has announced decisions on proposals for changes to the awarding of qualifications during 2020/21. The changes include a reduction in the number of exams that pupils will be required to take, as well as making a number of adaptions to qualifications to ensure they can be delivered safely and meet public health requirements by incorporating a range of appropriate adjustments and necessary mitigations.
You will see from the Minister’s letter to parents and pupils that, his “key message is to assure you that, it is my priority to ensure that public examinations go ahead, if at all possible”. Once we receive further detail from the examination board, we will give careful consideration to these proposals to ensure that we thoroughly prepare our pupils for the examinations they will take later in the academic year.
