Larne Grammar School pupils place amongst the top candidates in Northern Ireland
Larne Grammar School pupils and their teachers have had further cause for celebration this week with the news that three pupils were amongst the highest achievers in this summer’s CCEA GCSE and GCE examinations.
Whilst both our Year 12 and Year 14 cohorts produced very strong GCSE and ‘A-Level’ outcomes, Isaac Holst, Rory Madden and Meg McCubbin have been celebrating their individual successes.
Isaac Holst placed first in both GCSE Digital Technology Multimedia (out of 3,134 candidates) and GCSE Double Award Science (out of 7,915 candidates).

Rory Madden placed second in GCSE Further Mathematics (out of 3,704 candidates) and third in GCSE Digital Technology Multimedia (out of 3,134 candidates).

Outgoing Head Girl, Meg McCubbin placed third in GCE Performing Arts.
These results highlight the high academic performance of our pupils across a range of subjects. Our pupils, with the support of their teachers, continue to excel and outperform their peers in schools across Northern Ireland and the UK.
Commenting on these results Larne Grammar School Principal, Mr Jonathan Wylie said, “To have five ‘top three’ places from our school is a remarkable feat and continues the trend of recent years. Not every pupil can be the very best and achieve this kind of success, but many of the very best in Northern Ireland are LGS pupils.”
Congratulations to Isaac, Rory, and Meg and their teachers Mr Gourley, Mr Mauger, Mrs Pyper, Ms Weir, Mrs Horner and Mrs McKay.
